The lass behind Threid Stitches

The story of Lorna,
owner of Threid Stitches.

“Threid Stitches was borne of a passion for the beauty we see here in Scotland and for preserving our unique memories stitched into the very landscape we love,”

Hiya, I’m Lorna the lass behind Threid Stitches and I’m so chuffed that you have taken the time today to find out more about me, my artwork and my small business.

Ever since I was a wee quine I have loved the natural beauty that surrounds us here in Scotland and particularly the Scottish Highlands. From visiting as a young lass with my family on holidays to officially making Aberdeenshire in the North-East my home back in 2013, my love and appreciation for Scotland only continues to deepen and grow with every stitch.

My original hand embroidered hoops feature an artistic glimpse into my own fond memories of the Scottish Highlands and the North East from childhood. The view of a wee cottage framed by a thick forest, the calming view of Loch Fleet from an adventure I had in the Highlands, down to the rocky beaches of Embo where I paddled with my family, and now I have the pleasure and privilege of capturing memories of customers through bespoke landscape hoops they too can treasure forever.

When creating my first custom embroidery hoop I knew I wanted to showcase the beauty and unique features we have here in Scotland across our gorgeous landscapes, and to do that I knew I wanted to lean into a vibrant colour palette that plays into the cheeky and fun nature of the Scottish people and show we don’t “just” do tartan and neutrals!

Now after experimenting with threads, yarn, textures and colours, I have a distinct style that feels truly my own and create bespoke hoops and art for customers looking to preserve their own special memories of Scotland. From couples who want to commemorate their engagement spot or wedding location, holiday makers and people who share a deep love and affinity for Scotland and all it has to offer there’s something for everyone.

Ta very much for reading and I hope you enjoy shopping my collections,

Lorna, the lass behind Threid Stitches.
