'Broken Wooden Fence' - Loch Fleet, Golspie
A striking 9” original handmade embroidery hoop inspired by the beauty of the Scottish landscape. Perfect for wall art and display purposes this hoop is comprised of an eclectic and colourful combination of yarn and embroidery floss producing an impactful three-dimensional original piece of art designed to draw your eye. The hoop is hand stitched on plain white cotton that brings out the most colourful aspects of this design and is securely mounted in a bamboo embroidery hoop with a silver screw fastening which enables easy hanging for wall displays.
Inspired by a trip to visit Loch Fleet on the East Coast of Scotland in 2020 this one of a kind embroidery hoop offers an abstract and vivid view of the Scottish Highlands and shows you the beauty of Scotland’s natural landscape through a colourful lens. Overlooking Loch Fleet are mountains upon mountains of thick, bushy trees with flashes of sprouting heather native to our bonny Scotland and captured here through small hand stitched detailing. At the time of capturing this scene there was a uniformed line of what looked like birds but were stumps of a wooden fence that can be seen in the middle distance where small flashes of golden sand banks would peek through providing a resting spot for seals taking a break from frolicking in the loch.
Creating this landscape was an absolute labour of love, from the small flashes of heather in lilac stitching to hand stitching the individual threads of golden sand and giving texture and depth to the rolling hills and mountains, there was always something new to work on and create when considering how I’d craft this scene and it has ended up capturing the landscape and my memory perfectly.
